Communication Intern

Job Purpose

The Communication Intern is responsible for assisting with communications, marketing, grant writing, and aspects of technology as directed by the Executive Director. Other key duties include participating in community outreach and participating in fundraising events. Must embrace the mission of Academy 4 to connect churches to schools and their communities to mentor 4th graders in leadership.
Reports to the Marketing Manager

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create effective communication pieces for church partners, donors, school partners, 4th grade parents, and other constituencies
  • Develop and optimize effective internal communication with staff, using efficient and effective tools
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy that effectively communicates both broad and tactical plans and happenings
Marketing and promotions:
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to execute a strategic marketing and promotion plan that will create brand awareness and target partners
  • Help implement the marketing and communication strategy working with vendors and partners to accomplish it
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a style guide that will govern style and usage in all external communications
  • Develop and collect usable media (video, photos, and audio) from program operations to use in marketing and promotion
  • Update and manage social media content over various platforms
Grant Writing:
  • Play a role in researching potential sources and writing and submitting grants
  • Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar that will guide Academy 4 annually in pursuing grants, keeping up with current sources and helping to cultivate new sources
Program Participation:
  • Play a role in each Academy 4 day locally
  • Develop resources and tools to improve program operations
  • Serve the needs and collaborate with Site Coordinators to support them in successful operation of the program
